TESOL-Drama began looking at process drama in the 2010 workshop. This year, we will approach process drama from the more practical perspective of process drama activities and conventions, and then move to the discussion of how these may be utilized within different contexts.

The workshop will thoroughly examine the techniques and strategies used in forming a process drama, explaining what they are and how they may be implemented, in what contexts they might be used, and through what roles the emerging drama might best be expressed.  We will call upon workshop participants to contribute examples of techniques and strategies that they have found successful and the contexts to which they were applied.

Finally, we will solicit examples of lesson plans that illustrate the use of the strategies in an ongoing fashion and how they were, or could be, utilized to fashion a complete process drama.

How can adding stories to your in-class and online activities raise student interest? How can you help learners develop 21st century multiliteracy skills through active learning enhanced by those stories?

In this five-week online workshop offered through the Electronic Village Online, participants will be introduced to various online tools and will learn how to effectively incorporate these resources into their teaching practices. They will explore how images, music, slideshows and web tools can be used in educational settings for storytelling.  By the end of the workshop, participants will have the chance to develop a digital storytelling plan to promote students' creativity, engagement and learning through the incorporation of digital production into their lesson plans.

In recent years there has been a new array of learning management systems (LMS). Tools such as blogs, wikis, podcasts and social bookmarking have created a significant shift in the educational experience. Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) enable learners to have greater control over their own learning experience. This session will take a look at the current situation by clarifying the concepts of personal learning environments and networks (PLNs). Participants will learn by doing, creating their own Personal Learning Environment and adding tools relevant to their individual needs as the 5-week session evolves.

Multiliterate individuals are aware of the pitfalls inherent in technology while striving for empowerment through effective strategies for first discerning and then taking advantage of those aspects of changing technologies most appropriate to their situations. These strategies include managing, processing, and interpreting a constant influx of information, filtering what is useful, and then enhancing the learning environment with the most appropriate applications. This course seeks to heighten awareness of these considerations, and to enable participants to explore ways of dealing with them in professional and interpersonal development as well as work with students.
